Are you a budding Spielberg? Or the next Nick Park?! Then this is the event for you!

The film making category is your opportunity to showcase your story telling skills through the lens. Whether you’re presenting a short film, documentary or animation we want you to share it with us

You can enter as a solo entrant or as part of a group, and the judging categories are based on age. We are ready with our Popcorn and can’t wait to see what you can do!

Factual

A celebration of the power of documentary story telling in short form cinema. This can be on any topic of your choosing

Fiction

Fancy a bit of creative story telling? Showcase your talents here, from drama to comedy to thriller or fantasy! See where your imagination takes you

Animation

Create a short film using animation of your choice; stop-motion, 2-D, 3-D, experimental or something entirely new

Film Rules

  • Age limits apply as at 31st August in the year of the Festival.
  • Competitors may enter only once in each solo class. However a competitor may enter more than once in a group class, provided the entry is with different people
  • All Film entries must be supplied in either .mov, .mp4 or .avi file format and should be provided on a DVD, which must be clearly marked with the entrant’s name and the title of the piece, one month before the Festival. No late or incomplete entries will be accepted.
  •  All work will be previewed by the committee and rejected if deemed unsuitable (General Rule 17)
  • All films will be shown at the Festival and should be suitable for a mixed age audience.
  • Films must be your own work/composition and comply with copyright rules i.e. no use of pieces of film/ TV/ news.
  • Any item which exceeds the stated time will be penalised.
