Schools Day 2025
The Schools Day will take place in school time at St Johns Church in Grantham
February 27 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
Calling all Primary Schools across the Region!
The Colsterworth Festival presents a wonderful opportunity for children to perform, to sing, to play instruments before a large audience, showcasing your school and the incredible talent within.
You can prepare something special for the festival or simply share something you’ve showcased previously, we are just excited to see the children perform . Historically this has been one of our most popular events, loved by the children, teachers and parents alike who get to watch their children perform on a wider stage.
Although we encourage a bit of friendly competition, we are always overwhelmed to see the children support and cheer for each other, enjoying seeing other schools perform as well as showing what they can do. Its a wonderful, friendly and exciting atmosphere which will leave you wanting to come back again and again!
What Happens on a Schools Day?
- The performance happens during school hours
- The adjudicator speaks to the children at the end of each section, with positive comments about what has gone well and how to improve the performance.
- Every entry receives a certificate and an adjudicator’s comment sheet – and there are medals and trophies to be won!
- You don’t need to specify which songs/pieces you are playing as these can be announced on the day
- Where possible, parents are also encouraged to come and join us to watch the children perform

School Choir
One of the best bits about school! An opportunity to perform two contrasting songs with the school choir.
Instrumental Group (with vocals)
Singers and musicians get together to perform two contrasting pieces. We cannot wait to see what amazing talents are in your school!
Instrumental Group (without vocals)
Time to give the musicians a chance to shine! Again we would like to see two contrasting pieces performed by the incredible school instrumental group
Recorder Group
The most iconic instrument in UK schools! We know how hard the children work to learn the recorder and we can't wait to see what they have mastered.
Group Acting
There are some amazing school performances which deserve a chance to be seen on a wider stage. Come showcase your talents for all to see
Choral Speaking
Where voices blend to bring words to life with rhythm, expression, and passion! Perform a piece of your choosing and inspire us with your incredible performance
